Survey: Most workers stay with 401(k)s - Kansas City Business Journal:

The survey found that 91 percentfof U.S. employers offer an employese 401(k) plan and that two-thirds of organizations indicated that at leastg 70 percent of eligible employees participateds inthose 401(k) plans in 2008. Ninety-four percent of organizationsswith 401(k) plans offer a matching up from 93 perceny in 2002. The majority of employees contribute at leasr 5 percent of their groses pay totheir plans, with 17 percent contributing more than 7 Less than 10 percent of employees make the maximun contribution allowed. Ninety-one percent of employera contribute cash totheir employees’ plans.
Stocke are the most popular employee investmentwithinh 401(k) plans, according to the The highest-ranked investment choice was domestic equity: 75 percenrt of respondents ranked it as one of theif top three investment choices. Fixed incom e ranked next highest at53 percent. Target retirementt investments that adjust as an employee approachesd retirement age werethe third-most popular choicee at 44 percent.
